Domino's Pizza restaurants history

How the restaurant DOMINO'S PIZZA was created

DOMINO's PIZZA can be called the number one pizza in the world without exaggeration. The very first pizzeria began its work in 1960, that is more than forty years, in Ipsilanti, Michigan. Having spent on the purchase of the first restaurant only $500, Tom Monaghan could now be the owner of more than 12 thousand restaurants for the preparation and delivery of pizza. By the way, it DOMINO's PIZZA offered the slogan "delivery in 30 minutes or give for free." On the way to success, the business owner had many obstacles and barriers, but his pizza still became one of the most famous in the world. Currently, Domino's PIZZA restaurants are not only on every continent, but also in almost every country in the world.

DOMINO's PIZZA menu was originally focused only on pizza. The only drink offered in the restaurant was Cola. However, later the menu was seriously expanded. So there were hot snacks, baked chicken wings, French fries, juices, beer and other drinks. This choice of pizza, snacks and drinks, no doubt, will be appreciated by any cuisine of the world, including British cuisine. Fast delivery is still a priority for the development of this network of pizzerias and DOMINO's PIZZA is still one of the most recognizable brands in the world.

Domino's Pizza (literally Domino's Pizza) - an international fast food restaurant chain; second largest after Pizza Hut in the United States. Has about 8,500 corporate and authorized branches in 55 countries under a franchise license.

From 1998 to 2008, the company funded the multi-series The Simpsons, broadcast on Sky1.

Since 1973, the company has ensured that customers will receive their pizza within 30 minutes of ordering, or otherwise, they will receive it for free. In the mid-1980s, due to shipping problems, the company changed the warranty from "free" to $3 for more than 30 minutes delay, and in 1993, after several lawsuits, dropped it altogether.

In 1960, Tom Monaghan and his brother James purchased a small pizzeria called Dominick's Pizza in Ypsilanti, USA. The brothers paid $75 bail and borrowed $500 to pay further expenses. Eight months later, James ends the partnership and sells his half of the business to Tom for using a Volkswagen Beetle. A similar car is now parked at the main entrance to the Dominos World Resource Center in Ann Arbor.

Remaining the sole owner, Tom renamed the pizzeria from Dominick's Pizza to Domino's Pizza. In 1968, a fire destroyed the company's headquarters. Despite numerous problems in the following years, including a lawsuit in 1975 for the illegal use of a trademark by Amstar, Dominos Pizza continued to grow, and in 1978 the company's 200th branch was opened.

Following this, the agency, led by President Janet Mahleman and her partner Robert Kotman, designed the pizzeria's interior, packaging and Indy racing car. They also conceived and implemented all advertising and oversaw the recruiting of the franchise. Thanks to their work, the number of branches has reached 5,000.

In the 1980s, Domino's Pizza opened a subsidiary in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. In the years that followed, the company expanded and, as of September 2006, had 8,238 pizzerias, generating $1.4 billion gross.

In 1992, the company paid $2.8 million in compensation to the family of an Indiana woman who was killed by a pizza delivery driver. In 1993, the company was re-tried by a woman who was injured by a pizza delivery driver who broke a red light. She won nearly $80 million.

In 1998, Monaghan sold his business for nearly $1 billion, while retaining a 27% stake in the company.

The first Domino's Pizza branch in Russia was opened in 1998 in Moscow, on Baumanskaya Street.

The pizzeria in the Irish city of Tallaght was the first Domino's Pizza in history to earn $3 million (€2.35 million) a year.

In 2008, after a hiatus from 1993, the company again began advertising delivery times in the United States of 30 minutes, but the ad in small print stated that this time was estimated (approximate). Despite this, in Brazil, Chile, India, Indonesia, Lebanon, Mexico and Turkey, Domino's Pizza guaranteed delivery in 30 minutes or "free" in case of late arrival.

In 2010, a restaurant was opened in Ukraine, in the historical center of Kiev, in Podil. In 2011, the second and third restaurant was opened in the Darnytskyi and Obolonsky districts of Kiev.
