How the restaurant was created
Back in 1983, two chefs from Houston, Sigmund Penn and Tom LePage, lit up with the idea to create an extraordinary ice cream. Their concept of making ice cream has become distinctive. To do this, our cooks needed the freshest milk from nearby farms. As well as nuts, vanilla and dried fruits are only fresh and of the highest quality. In addition, the authors have developed a completely new unique technique of freezing ice cream. All this combined with an handmade waffle horns and creates the unique and highly recognizable brand MARBLE SLAB CREAMERY.
The company expected rapid development in the United States. In 2003, the opening of ice cream shops in Canada began. Soon the company began to open its stores on other continents. Currently, there are more than 500 stores around the world.

The chain has its headquarters in separate Fulton County, Georgia. As an independent company it had its headquarters in the Westchase area of Houston, Texas. After the NexCen achievement, originally the brand's headquarters were in independent Gwinnett County, Georgia.[ In July 2010, NexCen proclaimed the sale of its franchise business to Global Franchise Group, LLC, an associate of Levine Leichtman Capital Partners. Global Franchise Group is now possessed by Lion Capital LLP and Serruya Private Equity.
Marble Slab, which started as a single unit action called Cones & Cream, was founded in Houston by chefs Sigmund Penn and Tom LePage in 1983. They were motivated by Steve Herrell of Herrell's Ice Cream in Boston, who pioneered the mixing method to ice cream glazes. In 1986, Marble Slab became the first ice cream treatery to use a frozen stonework slab to blend mix-in toppings into the ice cream. Later that year, Marble Slab was bought by Ronnie Hankamer of Texas, who laid the groundwork for the brand's permitting concept.
In the late 2000s, Marble Slab long-drawn-out beyond its southeastern attendance and has been recognized as a fast-growing franchise. In 2007 it was ranked in Entrepreneur Magazine's Franchise 500, Fastest-Growing Franchises and America's Top Global Franchises .
On June 28, 2021, Global Franchise Group announced that it would be picked up by FAT Brands, owners of Fatburger and Johnny RocketsThe acquisition was concluded on July 22.
