Sweet Frog restaurants history in UK

You pick the flavors, you add the toppings, you make it your way!

Sweet Frog is a chain of frozen yogurt retail stores owned and operated by Sweet Frog Enterprises, LLC.

Sweet Frog customers create their own soft-serve frozen yogurt with numerous flavors and toppings from which to choose.

Sweet Frog was founded by south Korean immigrant Derek Cha. He started the first Sweet Frog store in Richmond, Virginia in 2009. After that he opened a set of restaurants in the USA, in UK and many countries.

The “FROG” part of the name, according to Cha, is an acronym for “Fully Rely On God”.
Their goal is to create the best frozen yogurt experience people have ever had!
Topping bar is stocked fresh every day with the best ingredients for a light snack.

The Sweet Frog restaurants interiors are painted pink and green, and the typical store consists of seven or eight frozen yogurt machines, toppings bars, and merchandise, much of which is centered on Sweet Frog's mascots "Scoop" and "Cookie."

Sweet Frog is the fastest growing premium, all natural, self-serve frozen yogurt restaurant company in the country. With a wide selection of premium frozen yogurt flavors and fresh topping choices, Sweet Frog was named Best Frozen Yogurt in the USA by The Daily Meal in 2014 and 2016. sweetFrog has 340 stores including both company-owned, franchise and independently licensed locations either open or under contract in twenty-four states in the U.S, Dominican Republic, United Kingdom and Egypt.

Sweet Frog prides itself on providing a family-friendly environment where customers can enjoy soft-serve frozen yogurt, gelato and sorbets with the toppings of their choice. The company was founded on Christian principles and seeks to bring happiness and a positive attitude into the lives of the communities it calls home.

The founder, Derek Cha, started sweetFrog in 2009 with his wife, Annah Kim. Derek’s goal was to create a business, in the midst of a unfriendly economy, that could thrive and bring hope and happiness to a very down market. As this would be Derek’s first year in Richmond, he was prepared for the challenge. With faith, prayer, and the support of family and friends, Sweet Frog began. Two years later, Sweet Frog has grown by leaps and bounds (or hops)! By the spring of 2012, Sweet Frog will have over 100 Sweet Frog stores operating in over 15 states, and 1 international location in South Korea. Derek and Annah couldn’t be more proud of the business and its continued growth.

At that time(in 2009), frozen yogurt shops were primarily located on the West Coast, but they became attracted to the concept because of its simplicity and low cost. Even in the midst of an unfriendly economy, they felt the time was right to enter the frozen yogurt market. The first sweetFrog store opened later that year in the Short Pump subdivision of Richmond.

Today, Sweet Frog has grown by leaps and bounds (or hops)! Currently, Sweet Frog has over 300 locations in the United States and several more internationally. In Fall 2018, sweetFrog was acquired by a wholly-owned subsidiary of MTY Food Group and is headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona.
